Fox Cities Stadium show Aug. 16 part of Time Warner Cable Concert Series
APPLETON (April 3, 2008) – Country music superstar and “Celebrity Apprentice” runner-up Trace Adkins will headline the centerpiece concert of the Time Warner Cable Concert Series co-sponsored by Miller Brewing and supported by WFRV-TV, WPKR-99.5 the Wolf and US Bank. The Adkins’ concert will be held Aug. 16 at Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium, concert series partners Time Warner Cable, Miller Brewing and Saferide Appleton announced.
Details on other artists that will perform at the Aug. 16 daylong event will be announced as soon as they are available. Tickets for the concert will go on sale June 13 at Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium box office and on line at timberrattlers.com and range from $25 to $99.50 and will be available from the Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium box office and Web site.
Time Warner Cable, Miller Brewing and Saferide Appleton have joined to create the concert series that includes four nationally renowned acts headlining four shows at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center in Appleton throughout the summer and early fall, as well as the extended outdoor event at Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium. The series will also include nine free concerts to be held Thursday nights in Houdini Plaza in downtown Appleton, from June 26 to Aug. 24. These concerts will be operated jointly with Appleton Downtown Inc. and will feature local acts.
Proceeds from the concert series will help fund Saferide Appleton, Inc.’s Saferide Appleton Values Everyone program. The S.A.V.E. program dramatically reduces drunk driving by providing safe, free rides home for area residents from Appleton restaurants and taverns.
Adkins, whose hits include “Every Light in the House Is On,” “Chrome,” “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk” and “I Got My Game On,” earned three nominations for the upcoming CMT music awards.
The first series concert at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center will headline REO Speedwagon on May 23. Tickets are on sale at the PAC ticket office and on-line through the ticket office and Ticketmaster.
Ticket sales for all shows in the Time Warner Cable concert series presented by Miller Brewing feature a “Beat the Brokers” policy: All tickets in the first rows are available for concert goers who buy their tickets at the box office in a special advanced time period on the first day of sales. “This is part of our commitment to the fans,” says Apple Jam co-founder Bill Maloney. “Nothing can be more disappointing than standing for hours, and to be one of the first in line, only to discover that your seats are way in back because the brokers have gobbled up all the good tickets. That won’t happen with us. This is about the fans and about raising money for Saferide.” Fans were in line for REO Speedwagon tickets at 5:30 a.m. on March 9 even though tickets went on sale at 10 a.m.
The media partners for the REO Speedwagon concert include WAPL, 105.7 FM, and Deluxe 920 magazine.
The Time Warner Cable Concert Series co-sponsored by Miller Brewing will book performers drawn from a variety of musical genres and selected for their appeal to a broad spectrum of area residents. In addition to country and classic rock, concert artists will be drawn from new rock, alternative rock, soul/R&B and other fields.
